Brasenose College was founded in 1509. It is located at the centre of the city, minutes away from shops, restaurants, pubs, parks, museums, theatres and the river. The historic buildings have been modernised for 21st century needs. Immerse yourself in an authentic Oxford College experience. The college rooms, which are occupied in term time by students, are comfortable, yet functional. Unlike a hotel, the rooms are filled with the wonder and majesty of over 500 years of history. If you are looking for something unique in the heart of Oxford, then Brasenose is for you. Bedrooms are equipped with bed linen, towels, toiletries and tea & coffee making facilities, and are serviced daily by the friendly housekeeping team. The standard rooms are fitted with a hand basin and offer shared bathroom facilities - a true student experience! Unfortunately, due to the age of the buildings the rooms are unsuitable for those with mobility problems. Brasenose is a working college, therefore, in order to preserve the appropriate College environment, Hen or Stag Parties are not permitted.

The Royal Charter established a College to be called ‘The King's Hall and College of Brasenose’. The founders of Brasenose College where Sir Richard Sutton, a lawyer, and William Smyth, Bishop of Lincoln. Both were from the north west and the College has retained strong links with Cheshire and Lancashire throughout its history. The greatest change in the history of Brasenose took place in 1971, when the College decided to alter the statutes to allow the admission of women. The first woman lecturer was appointed in 1972 and the first women undergraduates arrived in 1974. The option of either a Continental style or hot full English breakfast is provided each morning between 8.15am and 9.00am in one of the stunning dining rooms. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from nearby and private dining is offered at the College for groups - subject to availability. Minimum numbers apply. Please contact the Events team directly for further private dining details on 01865 277828. Guests are welcome to take a stroll around the gardens and immerse themselves in the breath-taking view of the iconic Radcliffe Camera from either of the Quads. A place of peace and tranquillity where you can sit and read a book, relax and admire the view or just watch the world go by. Broadband internet access via ethernet cable is available in all rooms free of charge. Wi-Fi is available in most parts of the College - access can be obtained from the Lodge team. Please note: Many rooms are located upstairs and there are no lifts in any of the accommodation staircases. If you have mobility difficulties and require a low floor or accessible room, please note this in the 'Additional information' section when making your booking. The utmost will be done to support other special access needs, bearing in mind the constraints of listed buildings. The Lodge staff will be happy to store small amounts of luggage for short periods of time, although space is not always available. Please note that parking is unfortunately NOT available to B&B guests. Smoking: all of the rooms are non-smoking. The College is a non-smoking site and those who do wish to smoke should do so in the designated smoking areas.
