Cools Farm is an original 1620s listed farmhouse recently refurbished to a high standard. Three double bedrooms, one of which is a Family Room, provide comfortable and characterful accommodation for our guests and we are always happy to tell what we know about the history of our house and the surrounding land. We run an organic farm of 180 acres here with a suckler herd of British Red Poll cattle. Come to relax and rejuvenate your spirits in our beautiful English countryside. We are near to Stonehenge, Longleat House and Animal Park, Salisbury cathedral, Bath and the south coast of Dorset, so we provide an excellent base for a touring stay. Our Family Room can accommodate extra children. To inform us of this and to adjust the cost, please enter TRIPLE or QUADRUPLE in the promotional code section.

The beautiful landscape around us has barely changed over the last two centuries, but there is ample evidence of past occupation. Eleven bronze age axe heads, remains of a Roman villa, and personal and culinary items from Tudor times have been found in the fields. The stone mullion windows and fireplaces in our house are carved with initials from previous occupants and you will have your breakfast in our beamed dining room - originally the old kitchen with a large inglenook fireplace and hooks for hanging salted meats. Just above our land are the remains of Fonthill Abbey, built by William Beckford with monies from his Jamaican sugar plantations. Built at breakneck speed in the 1790s, the spire of this iconic building fell in 1830. By this time, Beckford had retired to Bath where he built Beckford's Tower from which he could see his beloved spire. We provide you with the choice of a Full English Breakfast or a continental alternative and, if notified beforehand, we can cater for special diets. You will eat your breakfast off our Wedgwood Devon Rose china in our beamed dining room with its mullion windows and inglenook fireplace. There are many excellent pub restaurants in the area and we can help you choose the most suitable for you for your evening meal. We are completely surrounded by our own land and our large garden provides a place to relax in warmer times. For those who would like to explore our farmland, the long distance Wessex Ridgeway path crosses our land and we allow guests to walk in our ancient woodland with its lake. We have three self catering units in our grounds - The Old Piggeryin the garden - which consists of a large studio bedroom with a double bed and single sofa bed plus seating and dining areas. It has its own self contained kitchen, shower room and garden with outside dining area in the old pig sties. Near to the farmyard, the Milking Parlour and adjoining Tractor Shed have been rebuilt to create a bungalow dwelling with three double bedrooms in the Milking Parlour and one double bedroom in the Tractor Shed. They can be rented either together or separately. The Milking Parlour has its own contained garden; the Tractor Shed has a small terrace area. Please note, The Old Piggery, Milking Parlour and Tractor Shed can only be booked for a minimum of three nights. Within a mile are some tennis courts which guests can hire.

Информация о прибытии

Check In: From 2pm - 10pm Check Out: By 10.30am Directions: Please don't rely on satellite navigation systems. There are only 2 properties in this postcode and some systems don't lead you to this address. The best way to arrive is via Hindon, not East Knoyle. Hindon is on the B3089 just south of the A303 (the main road from London to the West Country) and east of the A350. Drive down the main Hindon tree lined street towards Tisbury. At the bottom just after a playground, turn right. Carry on this road through the Fonthill woods for 1.8 miles exactly. Turn right at the green grass triangle where there is a sign pointing towards Cools Farm. The farmhouse is on your left. Please park in our drive as convenient. If you do find yourself near East Knoyle on the A350, don't go into the village but take the turning off the bypass signposted West Tisbury, called Millbrook Lane. Carry on for nearly a mile, past Summerleaze and at the first crossroads, turn left. Carry on through the woods, past a white house and Cools Farm will be seen on your left.
