Founded in 1517 Corpus Christi College is a close-knit and vibrant Oxford College, committed to academic excellence. Its ancient buildings are some of the most beautiful in Oxford and it enjoys an unrivalled position within the heart of the city. Tucked away from the hustle and noise of the City’s main streets the College over looks Christ Church Meadow and the Thames. There is easy access to other Colleges and University facilities such as libraries and museums and the city shops and the famous covered market are a short walk away. The College boasts direct access to the open spaces, riverside paths and tree-lined walks of the meadows. Architecturally, it successfully blends the very old with the very new, as illustrated by the 2012 built MBI al Jaber Building with its spacious auditorium and delightful roof terrace. 2015 saw The President and Scholars of Corpus attend the opening of the now completely refurbished Jackson and Oldham buildings. The result is 61 stunning rooms of which 39 are ensuite. All rooms are provided with towels, toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities.

When he founded Corpus in March 1517, Richard Fox, then Bishop of Winchester - one of the leading statesmen in the reigns of Henry VII and Henry VIII – noted in the Statutes that it should be like a beehive: full of industrious activity and producing much sweetness. Its buildings date from many periods, and have many striking features. Notable among these is the ingenious and richly embellished sundial that is the centrepiece of the College's paved front quadrangle. Then there are the magnificent panelled Hall, with its original hammer beam roof, the Old Library described by Erasmus as one of the wonders of the world, and the stately Fellows' Building of 1706 which looks out on to magnificent views of the garden, the Cathedral and the meadows beyond. In 2011 Corpus celebrated the 400th anniversary of the translation of the King James Bible with the involvement of two past Presidents of Corpus - John Rainolds and John Spencer. The College of Richard Hooker, John Keble, Thomas Arnold and Graham Wallas - to name four of its famous names - Corpus has a distinguished tradition of scholarship; this tradition continues, as witness well-known twentieth-century Corpus names as Sir Isaiah Berlin, Vikram Seth, and two former Presidents of our Junior Common Room - brothers David and Ed Miliband. 2017 sees the colleges 500th birthday with over 200 events planned throughout the year to celebrate this fantastic occasion. The famous Turnbull Pelican Sundial that dates from 1579 is found in the main college quad. It has 27 sundials and features a complex perpetual calendar. Corpus' garden has been created by David Leake, the College gardener since 1979. Eschewing chemicals and sprays, David has created a marvellous "wild" garden by blending a huge range of wild and cultivated flowers into a vivid yet harmonious landscape. The best time to see the garden is in springtime, when it is in full bloom. Wireless internet access is available in all rooms. Please mention to the Porter on arrival that you require internet access and they will provide you with a username and password on arrival.
