A former coaching inn dating back to 1697, with a stone still over the present front door to commemorate this date. This house was later to become Arrochar House and then the Cobbler Hotel. At the present time there is dispute as to whether the centre part or the rear part of the house was the first to be built. There are two stories that relate to the Arrochar House grounds. First, that some Vikings were buried just inside the front gate at Loch Long on the left hand side. Second, that there are ghosts of a green lady and a black dog connected with the hotel. With a traditional Scottish Restaurant open from 7.30am-9.30am for breakfast and 6.00pm-9.15pm for table d'hôte and à la carte menus. The restaurant serves a seasonal menu, featuring local specialities from the Scottish Highlands. The Bar serves light meals and offers a wide selection of fine malt whiskies.
