Situated just ten minutes walk from the centre of York and very close to York University, this guest house is ideally located to take full advantage of the many destinations and historic attractions close by. The property offers a range of rooms, many with King size beds and all ensuite. The owners are proud to be considered a luxury bed and breakfast accommodation provider in York by the English Tourist Board and the many satisfied guests, past and present. You can choose to stay in the Barbican Lodge Annexe which is located directly opposite Barbican House, having its own separate room with sofa and adjoining luxury ensuite shower room. Choose room 8 for the Lodge Annexe. Or stay at Coway Cottage which is a full self-catering cottage for 2 guests. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 2 NIGHT STAYS AT WEEKENDS (FRIDAY & SATURDAYS) AND 4 NIGHTS FOR THE EBOR RACE MEETINGS.

A Victorian villa built in 1888 as a wedding present by a local doctor to his daughter. Breakfast is served from 8.00am to 9.30am daily in the elegant dining room at an additional cost of £10 per person per day. This can be booked directly at the property. A full English or Continental style breakfast is available which includes smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on a toasted English muffin, fresh fruit platter, cereals, many varieties of teas such as herbal and fruit. Bacon and sausage from an award winning local butcher. All produce is supplied by high-quality local suppliers and made fresh to order. Conway Cottage apartment is self-catering. Small patio garden with bench under the Mountain Ash tree. The following facilities are available: wide screen LCD TV’s, with many of the rooms containing DVD players, all have radio alarm clock, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities with hot chocolate, herbal and fruit teas, biscuits and a complimentary decanter of sherry. Dry cleaning and laundry facilities on request.

Arrival information

Arrivals after 8.00pm by prior arrangement only and guests may arrive before 2.00pm to leave luggage. Directions: By Rail: Approximately 10 minutes walk from York station. By Car: From the A59: guests will reach Blossom Street, turn left and then right at Nunnery Lane. Turn left onto Bishopgate and keep on the main road with the City Wall on the left until reaching Paragon Street and the front of the Barbican Centre. Turn right and immediately see Barbican House. From the A64: keep on this road until coming to the Selby and York A19 slip road. Once on the A19 proceed north passing through Fulford and look out for the Army Barracks on the right. Then follow the fork right sign for Hospital. This will take guests along Cemetery Road. The name changes to Barbican Road after the first set of traffic lights. Barbican House is approximately 100 yards further on.
